“The recycling lie” wins 9th ARD documentary film competition
The decision of the jury was unanimous: Tristan Chytroschek and Carsten Stormer from a&o buero Filmproduktion GmbH Hamburg win the 9th ARD Documentary Film Competition with their documentary film project “The recycling lie”. With 69 submitted projects, the competition had a record participation this year. The winning project looks at the gigantic amounts of plastic waste, especially in countries of the so-called “Third World” and the tricks of the recycling industry.
Unanimous decision of the jury
“The recycling lie” convinces with its very good investigative approaches and unites everything that makes a prize-worthy documentary film in the first place,” the jury’s statement said. According to ARD editor-in-chief and jury chairman Rainald Becker, the decision in favor of the winning project was unanimous: “Since I became chairman of the jury, this is a novelty”, Becker is pleased and emphasizes: “Plastic waste has increased by ten percent since Corona, so the topic is more topical than ever.
