I am Magpie

One of the last wild rivers in Northern Quebec has gained the right of legal personhood under a new, game-changing legal precedent called the “rights of nature”. These new laws recognize the inherent value of nature and provide a critical paradigm shift that echo indigenous beliefs that we are not the masters of nature but rather one with nature.

The majestic Magpie River summersaults through sheer granite cliffs and spills into deep river gorges amid a pristine boreal forest that is home to caribou, wolves, bear and lynx. This blue-chip,one-hour nature film tells the story of this remarkable river, the animals that call it home and the the unique way a band of locals fought so hard to protect this true force of nature.
